About the session
In this interactive session, Marion Birnstill will introduce the Three Horizons framework as a practical and inspiring tool to navigate complexity, make sense of change, and imagine future possibilities.
Drawing from her work in systems change, philanthropy and embodied foresight, Marion will guide participants through an embodied and accessible introduction to Three Horizons—showing how it can help individuals, teams, and organisations balance present-day pressures with long-term transformation.
Participants will explore:
- 🌱 Horizon 1 — Grounding in reality and honouring the pain of the dominant system
- 🌿 Horizon 2 — The space of transition, experimentation and emergence:
The messy middle. The edges where discomfort and possibility meet. What feels uncertain but alive? - ✨ Horizon 3 — The future you long for and the seeds already present:
The subtle pull toward what wants to be born. The visions, intuitions, or values you sense but may not yet fully trust.
You will be invited into short hands-on exercises to map your own projects or ideas across the Horizons and reflect on the tensions that arise when navigating between short-term demands and longer-term systemic change.
Ideal for: Anyone curious about futures thinking, systemic practice, social innovation, or simply wanting to clarify direction in a complex world. No previous experience required.
