About the Session
In this session, David Mellett, entrepreneur and investor, will share key insights from his book A Hitchhiker’s Guide, which offers a unique and fun take on the startup journey by drawing interesting parallels between hitchhiking and starting a business. Based on his experiences hitchhiking across Canada and the U.S., as well as co-creating 10 startups, David highlights crucial stages of building a business: from idea generation and team-building to securing funding, pivoting, and surviving the “valley of death.”
His guide provides valuable lessons on risk-taking, improvisation, and trusting the right people to move forward. With a focus on the founder’s journey rather than just the companies they build, David encourages entrepreneurs to embrace the unpredictable path ahead and enjoy the ride. Whether you’re just starting out or deep into your own entrepreneurial journey, this session will offer essential insights on navigating the highs and lows of building a business.
